Britain’s biggest and busiest container port, handling around 40% of the UK container trade, is one of the largest in Europe and is a key direct hub for the largest container ships moving from Asia to the UK.
The port first opened for trade and received their first commercial vessel on 7th April 1886 and is currently owned by Hutchinson Ports.
Good road transport links via A14/A1/M6 to the Midlands and north and A12 to London and the west and daily rail options to Yorkshire, Midlands and Manchester makes Felixstowe ideally located for much of the UK.
Felixstowe port has heavily invested in semi-automated gantry cranes to support the needs of the shipping community, they have also introduced 100 electric autonomous trucks since September 2023 which transport the containers from ship to shore.
These initiatives allow Felixstowe to help protect the environment and to build a smarter and more sustainable future.
Felixstowe Port is connected to the port community system Destin8, Global Container Services has direct links to this system allowing us full visibility to the clearance progress, this enables us to process your Felixstowe import shipments quickly and efficiently.
We also contract with key road hauliers and rail companies, allowing us to offer a full clearance and delivery service regardless of your needs and destination.
